Where on Earth Is Carmen Sandiego? Theme Song

1994–1998

This is for the animated series; the one inspired by the computer game. There was a PBS game show entitled Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego? but this is not it—nor do I know (yet) if that had a theme song.

This show actually ran for four seasons (on FOX)—a lifetime in 90s animated shows. Its theme song was inspired by a Mozart classic. Wait, actually it is still a Mozart classic, they just changed the lyrics and modernized the instrumentation.

The Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart song is “Singt dem grossen Bassa Lieder” from the singspiel Die Entführung aus dem Serail. A singspiel is a German music drama and a genre of opera.

Where on Earth Is Carmen Sandiego? theme song lyrics

Spoken: Where on earth is Carmen Sandiego?

Where is Carmen Sandiego?
Carmen Sandiego
Where on earth can she be?

Tell me,
Where is Carmen Sandiego?
Oh, Carmen Sandiego
Where on earth can she be?
Where on earth can she be?

Ooh, ooh, ooh

Sphinx, Mona Lisa
Leaning Tower of Pisa
London Zoo
Timbuktu
Can you help us find a clue?

Oh, Where is
Carmen Sandiego?
Carmen Sandiego
Where on earth
Can she be?

Where on earth can she be?

As to who performed and recorded the theme song, I still don’t know.

Below is the original intro to the series.
