7th Heaven Theme Song

1996–2007

Ah, Jessica Biel.

This is a very iconic theme song that should have been here eons ago, but well, this is a random blog and I can only do so much at a time.

Anyway, talking about its theme song, two names come two mind. Composer Dan Foliart and singer Steve Plunkett. Most only credit Mr. Plunkett for the song but I have enough reason to believe Mr. Foliart composed it.

Steve Plunkett is of the defunct American band Autograph. I think they were big in the glam metal era.

I have found but one official soundtrack for the series. It is labeled “music that inspired the hit television show.” It does have the theme, credited as “7th Heaven (Main Title Theme)”, but it only lasts 0:58 so I guess there is no extended/full version of it.

Below is the opening theme and credits taken from season 8.

I think all 7th Heaven YouTube clips have embedding disabled so just click above to watch on YouTube.

7th Heaven theme song lyrics

7th Heaven
When I see their happy faces smilin’ back at me
7th Heaven
I know there is no greater feelin’ than the love of a family
Where can you go when the world don’t treat you right?
The answer is home, that’s the one place that you’ll find
7th Heaven
Mmmmmm 7th Heaven
7th Heaven

Roseanne Theme Song

1988–1997

Whoa, this show lasted a lifetime. So, where is Roseanne Barr now? And also, I can’t believe Johnny Galecki, Leonard from The Big Bang Theory, started his career in this show.

The theme song for Roseanne is one of those untitled originals that people simply refer to as (in the format of) “Show-name Theme”. It was composed by W.G. “Snuffy” Walden, whom we previously encountered for the themes of My So-Called Life and Hawthorne. However, I think composers Dan Foliart and Howard Pearl are also credited for the theme song.

As we all know, the “Roseanne Theme” is an instrumental, for the most part at least, featuring a solo saxophone for the main melody. However, in the ninth and final season, the theme became a full-blown song with lyrics. It still followed the basic melody though.

The theme with lyrics was performed by Blues Traveler featuring their trademark distorted harmonica. The lyrics are credited to John Popper, frontman for Blues Traveler, so he sang it as well.

Below are the lyrics.

Roseanne theme song lyrics (season 9 theme)

If what doesn’t kill us is making us stronger,
We’re gonna last longer
Than that greatest wall in China
Or that rabbit with the drum

If there’s one thing that I’ve learned
While waiting for my turn,
It’s that in each life some rain falls
But you also get some sun

And we’ll make out better than okay
Hear what I say
Hey, any day

Below is the intro for season 9 featuring the Blues Traveler theme song.

Below is the original opening title sequence for season 1. The music below is what was used for seasons 1 to 8.

I’m pretty sure the series did not release an official soundtrack. However, the theme song is available from some TV theme song compilations like this one.

Home Improvement Theme Song

Here’s a funky one; 1991-1999

I really dig this tune. I remember the show, but for some reason I didn’t quite remember the theme song and opening sequence, until that last “ooaah” dumbfounded moan of Tim Allen in the end.

The theme song is entitled “Iron John’s Rock” (what a cool name). It was composed by Dan Foliart, and features a sort of funky jam with a bass, flute, electric guitars, an organ and drums. Such a jammy song.
