Alfred Hitchcock Presents Theme Song

1955-1962

This is one of the most iconic theme songs in history, that, even after 50 years, people like me who weren’t even born when the show aired, know of its theme song.

That is partly because the song is a timeless classical piece, by a timeless classical composer—Frenchman Charles Gounod, who lived in the 1800s. The theme song is called “Funeral March of a Marionette.”

The same song (but different version) was used for the expanded 50-minute version, The Alfred Hitchcock Hour.

Since the song is a royalty-free classical composition, it is available in a number of commercial releases.
