Scooby Doo, Where Are You! Theme Song

1969–1972; the original

This is for the original theme song, the one that goes “Scooby-dooby-doo, where are you”. I understand the real title of that animated series is “Scooby Doo, Where Are You!”, hence the long post title. There’s also a 2000s version entitled “What’s New, Scooby-Doo?”, and we’ll include its theme song anyway, even if it sucks like hell.

The original Scooby theme song was written by composers David Mook and Ben Raleigh. As to who performed it, I came across some clues that a certain Austin Roberts recorded it. The line says: “Roberts, who also made a new recording of the Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! theme song for the second season.”

The theme song’s official title is the same as the show’s. Below is the original opening sequence featuring the rockin’ theme song.

Scooby Doo, Where Are You! theme song lyrics

Scooby-Dooby-Doo, Where Are You?
We got some work to do now
Scooby-Dooby-Doo, Where Are You?
We need some help from you now

Come on Scooby-Doo, I see you, pretending you got a sliver
But you’re not fooling me, cause I can see, the way you shake and shiver

You know we got a mystery to solve,
So Scooby Doo be ready for your act
Don’t hold back!
And Scooby Doo if you come through
you’re going to have yourself a scooby snack!
That’s a fact!

Scooby-Dooby-Doo, here Are You
You’re ready and you’re willing
If we can count on you Scooby Doo
I know you’ll catch that villian

For archiving sake, below is the sucky theme to What’s New, Scooby-Doo? (2002-present), written by Rich Dickerson & Gigi Meroni, and performed by Simple Plan.
